“It takes a legend... to make a star”
In "Burlesque" (2010), Cher's directorial debut, Ali (Julianne Hough) flees her mundane existence for the glittering promise of Los Angeles, where she finds employment as a cocktail waitress at the struggling Burlesque Lounge. As she navigates the club's sultry performances and befriends its charismatic performers, including the alluring aspiring star Roxie (Kristen Bell), Ali transforms from a naive outsider into a confident dancer, ultimately reviving the theater's faded glamour. Cher's nostalgic ode to the art of cabaret is a lavish spectacle of song and dance, framed by the underdog story of a young woman's quest for self-empowerment.
