The eastern indigo snake, largest snake native to north America, was last recorded in Alabama in the early 1950s. It's no wonder Alabama school children--and probably most adults--do not know of this remarkable creature. Now, nearly 60 years later, a team of university scientists, state government, federal government, private organizations, and concerned citizens are bringing the eastern indigo back to Alabama.
