Doom

Doom (2005) transposes B-grade sci-fi clichés to a rusty red planet, where a band of space marines, led by the gruff Sarge, respond to a distress signal at a Martian research facility. Upon arrival, they confront the consequences of a reckless genetic experiment: a murderous convict, injected with alien DNA, has escaped and unleashed a wave of grotesque mutations. Dr. Grimm, connected to team member Reaper, reveals the horrifying truth: the alien gene is both infectious and transformative, turning humans into abominations. The film’s cramped corridors and gore-soaked set-pieces offer little respite from the relentless, pulpy assault on sanity.
