“There are no simple truths.”
Set in 1964 Bronx, Doubt unfolds within the cloistered confines of a Catholic school where Sister Aloysius, the strict principal, confronts Father Flynn over suspicions of his inappropriate relationship with an African-American student. Sister James, a younger nun, finds herself caught between the older nun's paranoid suspicions and the priest's charismatic denials, as the film explores themes of faith, doubt, and moral certainty through tense, meticulously crafted dialogue and performances.
