Dragonball Evolution

Dragonball Evolution, a 2009 adaptation of Akira Toriyama’s manga, sees Goku, on his 18th birthday, receive a mystical Dragonball from his grandfather, only for the arrival of a malevolent force to set him and his allies on a quest to gather all seven spheres and save Earth from impending doom. The film, visually dense with CGI and martial arts, flirts with the source material’s spirit but struggles to encapsulate the essence of its expansive narrative and iconic characters within a constrained runtime.
