El Mariachi

Robert Rodríguez's "El Mariachi" (1993) distills its pulpy narrative into a tense game of mistaken identities. A wandering musician, El Mariachi, seeks only to ply his trade and honour family legacy in a small Mexican village. His arrival coincides with that of a lethal assassin, also concealing weapons within a guitar case. The local drug lord, believing El Mariachi to be the assassin, Azul, sets his men on a relentless pursuit.
