Elysium

Set in 2159, Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium pits the opulent, utopian space station Elysium against the squalor of Earth. Secretary Delacourt, played with steely resolve by Jessica Chastain, enforces draconian measures to maintain Elysium’s exclusivity, while Max, a down-on-his-luck Earth dweller, becomes a pawn in a grander scheme to challenge the status quo. Max’s reluctant heroics hinge on a dangerous mission that could bridge the chasm between the haves and have-nots, offering a stark critique of inequality and the lengths to which the marginalized will go for change.
