Evil

In the austere corridors of Stjärnsberg Boarding School, set in 1950s Stockholm, director Mikael Håfström's "Evil" observes the precarious existence of Erik, a young boy expelled from his previous school for fighting. Under the shadow of his abusive stepfather, Erik swears to his mother he will behave, but the rigid confines and harsh discipline of Stjärnsberg test his resolve. Håfström's lens captures the tension between Erik's desperate desire for a normal life and the systemic cruelty that threatens to consume him.
