In brightest day. In blackest night.

Marc Forster's "Green Lantern" (2011) reimagines the cosmic guardians of peace as a cadre of interstellar policemen wielding sentient rings. When a malevolent entity known as Parallax destabilizes the fabric of the universe, the Guardians turn to Hal Jordan, an earthbound test pilot with a penchant for self-destruction. The film's visual effects are its strongest asset, bringing the alien landscapes and cosmic battles to vivid life, though the script fails to harness the complexity of its mythos, resulting in a superficial adventure lacking the emotional depth to anchor its grandiose ambitions.
