In Adam Shankman's "Hitch" (2005), Will Smith plays Alex Hitchens, a suave dating consultant who peddles his skills to the clueless Albert (Kevin James) and the high-strung Allegra Cole (Eva Mendes). As Albert's awkward courtship advances, Hitch's own attempts at romance falter under the scrutiny of Sara Melas (Kate Hudson), a nosy tabloid reporter.
