Set in 1931 Franklin County, Virginia, "Lawless" charts the fortunes of the Bondurant brothers, who operate a speakeasy that doubles as a front for their lucrative moonshine business. Middle brother Forrest's sharp wits, Howard's brute strength, and Jack's vigilant lookout skills keep their enterprise thriving despite local corruption. The arrival of a sadistic Chicago lawman disrupts this uneasy peace, sparking a violent conflict that tests the brothers' resolve and loyalty. John Hillcoat's film is a gritty, atmospheric tale of rural lawlessness and familial bonds under threat.
