Mona Lisa Smile

Set in 1953 at Wellesley College, Mona Lisa Smile follows Katherine Watson, a UCLA graduate hired to teach art history, as she disrupts the cloistered world with her progressive ideas. Inspired by the likes of Botticelli and Degas, she challenges her students, particularly Betty and Joan, to question the societal norms that confine them. Through art and discourse, Watson encourages a generation of young women to redefine their roles beyond the restrictive confines of domesticity, sparking a quiet revolution within the ivy-covered walls of academia.
