Daniel Hillard, a loving but irresponsible father, is denied regular access to his children after his exasperated wife divorces him. Seizing an opportunity to be closer to them, Hillard takes up employment as their housekeeper, adopting the guise of a droll British nanny named Mrs. Eileen Doubtfire. Under this guise, Hillard navigates the complexities of single parenthood, gradually becoming the attentive and nurturing figure he once failed to be, all while navigating the absurdities of his duplicitous life.
