Ride Your Wave

Ride Your Wave (2019) is a romantic fantasy about Hinako, a college student who relocates to a coastal town and finds solace in surfing. Her life takes an unexpected turn when a fire breaks out at her apartment, and she is saved by Minato, a dashing firefighter. Their burgeoning relationship is tested when Minato dies in a tsunami, leaving behind a mysterious message that promises to guide Hinako through her grief and into a future he can only imagine. Director Taika Katayama weaves a tender, surreal tale of love and loss, where the ocean becomes a conduit for supernatural promises and the ephemeral nature of happiness.
