Blu, a domesticated macaw in Minnesota, leads a sheltered existence until he learns of Jewel, the last of his kind in Rio de Janeiro. With his human companion Linda, Blu embarks to Brazil, only to be captured by smugglers. Escaping, Blu and Jewel navigate the vibrant chaos of Rio, their flight to freedom marked by peril and unlikely alliances.
