The story of a man who wanted to keep the world safe for democracy...and meet girls.

John Winger, a disgraced cabbie and social misfit, joins the U.S. Army alongside his bumbling friend Russell Ziskey, setting the stage for a series of irreverent mishaps that test the patience of their superiors. Winger's anarchic leadership of a platoon of similarly disillusioned soldiers culminates in a brazen escapade that nearly ignites a diplomatic crisis when he commandeers a military vehicle into a no-man's-land. Richard Pryor and Bill Murray's combustible chemistry anchors this satirical skewering of military life, rendering the absurdities of bureaucracy and regimentation hilariously relatable.
