“Never Forget. Never Forgive.”
Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" (2007) reimagines the tale of Benjamin Barker, a barber wrongfully exiled to Australia, as he returns to London to exact revenge. Resuming his identity as Sweeney Todd, he slits the throats of unsuspecting patrons and surreptitiously dispatches their bodies to his accomplice, Mrs. Lovett, who turns them into meat pies. Set to Stephen Sondheim's darkly melodic score, Burton's gothic vision is a macabre dance of vengeance and culinary horror, where the line between justice and vengeance blurs in the grimy streets of Victorian London.
