The Color of Money

Directed by Martin Scorsese, "The Color of Money" (1986) revisits the world of pool hustlers with Paul Newman as the aging "Fast Eddie" Felson, now a mentor figure to a young prodigy, Vincent Lauria, played by Tom Cruise. As Eddie and Vincent tour the seedy underbelly of the billiards circuit, Eddie imparts his hard-earned wisdom on scamming and survival, but Vincent's brash attitude soon grates on Eddie's nerves. The film charts their deteriorating relationship and the inevitable clash that sets them on opposing sides of the table, each seeking to prove their superiority in a game where the line between skill and deception is blurred.
