The Master

Paul Thomas Anderson’s “The Master” unfurls a caustic portrait of post-war America through the tumultuous relationship between Freddie Quell, a shell-shocked naval veteran adrift in a sea of alcohol and disillusionment, and Lancaster Dodd, a hypnotic figurehead of a burgeoning cult.
