The Pirates

In 14th-century Korea, on the eve of the Joseon Dynasty’s founding, a Chinese envoy’s ship, bearing Emperor Ming’s Royal Seal, is swallowed by a colossal whale. A reward is offered for the seal’s return, setting a motley crew of bandits and pirates against each other. Jang Sa Jung, a leader of mountain bandits, and Yeo Wol, the wily captain of a pirate crew, race through treacherous waters and dangerous terrain to claim the precious artifact. The film “The Pirates” (2014) transforms historical fantasy into a swashbuckling adventure, blending swordplay with maritime lore.
