The Room

Tawdry and infamous, "The Room" (2003) is a schlocky melodrama that wears its heart on its sleeve—or, rather, on its garish, overwrought surface. Tommy Wiseau's enigmatic directorial debut unfurls as a tale of treachery and trust among friends, yet its earnestness is often undercut by bizarre dialogue and amateurish filmmaking. Johnny (Wiseau), a milquetoast banker, finds his idyll of friendship and fidelity shattered by a web of deceit, each revelation more preposterous than the last.
