In 1993, The Three Musketeers reconvenes the swashbuckling quartet of D'Artagnan, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, who band together against the treacherous machinations of Cardinal Richelieu. Disregarding the cardinal's decree to disband the musketeers, the trio persists in their vigilant protection of the monarchy. D'Artagnan, a brash newcomer from Gascony, joins forces with these rebels, their alliance forged by mutual distrust of Richelieu's ambitions to seize the French throne.
