“Their escape was just the beginning.”
In "The Way Back" (2010), a handful of prisoners from a Siberian gulag, each bearing the scars of a different world, set out across the unforgiving terrain of Eastern Europe and Asia. Their path is a gauntlet of survival, where the cold and the watchful eye of authority test the limits of their endurance and trust. The film charts their ragtag progress through five countries, a map of their inner journeys as much as their physical expanse, as they seek sanctuary in a world that offers little mercy.
