Thirst

Thirst (2009) transforms the vampire genre into a meditation on faith and desire. A priest, volunteering for a virus cure, succumbs to infection but returns as a vampire through a mysterious blood transfusion. Torn between his sacred vows and a newfound thirst for blood, he is further entangled by an illicit desire for his childhood friend’s wife. Park Chan-wook’s provocative film explores the duality of human nature and the moral compromises one makes in the face of insatiable longing.
