Areo Hotah, originally from the Free City of Norvos, is the captain of the Martell guard and the personal bodyguard of Prince Doran Martell of Dorne. Renowned for his skill with his longaxe, he lives by the motto 'Serve, Protect, Obey.'
He arrests the Sand Snakes, Jaime Lannister and Ellaria Sand after their attempt to seize Princess Myrcella, and is later stabbed in the spine by Tyene Sand during Ellaria's coup at the Water Gardens.
