Ser Harrold Westerling is a knight of House Westerling and the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, appearing in the first season of the HBO series House of the Dragon. One of the longest-serving members of the Kingsguard, named during the reign of Jaehaerys I, he is assigned as a sworn shield to Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and is renowned for his chivalry and honor.
Harrold attends the Targaryen court throughout the reign of King Viserys I and is elevated to Lord Commander after the death of Ser Ryam Redwyne. Following Viserys's death, he objects to the Greens' seizure of power and, ordered by Otto Hightower to travel to Dragonstone and assassinate Rhaenyra, removes his white cloak and resigns his post rather than obey.
