Lady is the direwolf of Sansa Stark, appearing in the first season of Game of Thrones. She is one of six direwolf pups found beside their dead mother by the Stark children, who each adopt one; Sansa names hers Lady, and she is remembered as the gentlest and smallest of the litter.
Lady accompanies Sansa south toward King's Landing. After Arya's direwolf Nymeria is driven off to spare her Cersei's wrath, the queen demands a direwolf's life in her place, and Lady is condemned. Rather than let the king's executioner do it, Eddard Stark carries out the sentence himself near the Inn at the Crossroads, judging that a creature of the North deserves a merciful death. Lady is the first of the Stark direwolves to die.
