Mirri Maz Duur was a Lhazareen godswife and maegi, a practitioner of blood magic, and a significant character in the first season of the HBO series Game of Thrones. Enslaved when Khal Drogo's khalasar raided her village, she was taken into Daenerys Targaryen's protection.
When Drogo was weakened by an infected wound, Mirri Maz Duur performed a blood-magic ritual that left him in a persistent vegetative state and cost Daenerys her unborn son, acting in revenge for the rape and destruction she had suffered. Daenerys had her bound to Drogo's funeral pyre and burned alive. This overview summarizes her documented on-screen role; see the Timeline for chronology.
