Olly is a character original to the HBO series Game of Thrones, with no direct counterpart in the source novels. A farm boy from the Gift, he fled to Castle Black after wildlings raided his village and killed his parents, joining the Night's Watch and later becoming Jon Snow's personal steward.
During the battle for the Wall, Olly killed the wildling Ygritte with an arrow, avenging his father. His trust in Jon soured over the Lord Commander's alliance with the Free Folk, and he took part in the mutiny at Castle Black, dealing Jon the fatal blow.
