Selyse Baratheon, born Selyse Florent of Brightwater Keep, is a recurring character in the HBO series Game of Thrones, appearing from Season 2 through Season 5. As the wife of Stannis Baratheon, claimant to the Iron Throne, she is queen to his cause. A fanatical devotee of the Lord of Light, she was the one who first brought the red priestess Melisandre to Dragonstone, and her religious zeal often set her at odds with her family.
Selyse bore Stannis three sons, all stillborn, whose bodies she preserved in her chambers; their only surviving child is Princess Shireen Baratheon, whom Selyse resented for her disfigurement and for being a daughter rather than a male heir.
