Alastor Moody

Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody is a pure-blood wizard widely considered one of the greatest Aurors of all time. His long career hunting dark wizards left him with a wooden leg, a magical prosthetic eye, and a deeply ingrained watchfulness that made "constant vigilance" his watchword. He was a pivotal member of the Order of the Phoenix across both Wizarding Wars.
In 1994 he agreed to serve as Hogwarts' Defence Against the Dark Arts professor, but was kidnapped and impersonated by Barty Crouch Jr. He later mentored Nymphadora Tonks and died during the Battle of the Seven Potters in 1997. Within the film adaptations he appears in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.
