Elphias Doge was a British pure-blood wizard, a Ministry of Magic jurist and Special Advisor to the Wizengamot, and a member of the Order of the Phoenix in both Wizarding Wars. He was one of Albus Dumbledore's oldest and closest friends, having befriended him on their first day at Hogwarts.
In 1995 he served in the Advance Guard that escorted Harry Potter to safety, and after Dumbledore's death he wrote his obituary for the Daily Prophet.
