Vernon Dursley is a Muggle character in the Harry Potter film series created by J. K. Rowling. A director of the drill-manufacturing firm Grunnings, he lives at 4 Privet Drive in Little Whinging, Surrey, with his wife Petunia and their son Dudley. He is the younger brother of Marjorie Dursley and, through his marriage to Petunia, the uncle by marriage of Harry Potter.
Following the deaths of Harry's parents, the Dursleys reluctantly take in the orphaned Harry, whom Vernon treats harshly while indulging Dudley; he is depicted as intolerant of anything connected to magic. During the Second Wizarding War the family goes into hiding to escape Lord Voldemort.
