Fredegar 'Fatty' Bolger is a Hobbit of the Shire and a close friend of Frodo Baggins, one of the small circle who knew that Frodo carried the One Ring. He stayed behind at Crickhollow to conceal Frodo's departure and raised the Horn-call of Buckland when the Nazgul attacked, and in later days led a band of Shire partisans against Saruman's ruffians before being captured and imprisoned in the Lockholes.
