Aarif Rahman, born in Hong Kong in 1987, rose to prominence as both an actor and Cantopop singer. After impressing with his rendition of "Only Friends" at a casual gathering, he secured a record deal with East Asia Record Production, mentored by Alvin Wang and Leon Lai. Rahman's musical debut in 2009 was soon followed by critical acclaim, earning him the "Best New Performer" award at the 29th Hong Kong Film Awards for his acting debut in "Echoes of the Rainbow.
