Anne Bancroft, born Anna Maria Louisa Italiano in the Bronx, New York, in 1931, was a versatile and acclaimed American actress whose career spanned decades, earning her an Academy Award for Best Actress for "The Miracle Worker" in 1962, alongside two Tony Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Cannes Film Festival Award.
