Anton Yelchin

Anton Viktorovich Yelchin, an American actor of Russian Jewish descent, rose to prominence playing Pavel Chekov in the Star Trek reboot while also carving a niche in independent cinema. Born in Leningrad, he moved to the U.S. as a toddler and began acting in the late '90s, appearing in Spielberg’s miniseries “Taken” and films like “Along Came a Spider” and “Hearts in Atlantis.” His range extended from the supernatural thriller “Odd Thomas” to the romantic drama “Like Crazy,” and he voiced Clumsy Smurf in the live-action Smurfs series. His career was tragically cut short in 2016 when he died accidentally at the age of 27.
