Buddy Ebsen, an American actor and dancer whose career thrived for seven decades, found stardom as Jed Clampett in "The Beverly Hillbillies" and as Barnaby Jones, the title character in a later detective series. His earlier work includes a stint as the Tin Man in "The Wizard of Oz," cut short by a dangerous reaction to his makeup. Ebsen's television debut in 1949 was followed by a series of roles in various shows, including a portrayal of Georgie Russel in the Davy Crockett miniseries. He starred in the NBC adventure series "Northwest Passage" and had notable appearances in "Rawhide" and "Have Gun, Will Travel." His diverse and enduring presence on screen made him a respected figure in the industry.
