Flea

Michael Peter Balzary, known professionally as Flea, is an Australian-American musician and actor, best recognized as the founding member and bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Born in Melbourne, he moved to Rye, New York, at age four and thereafter led a peripatetic childhood between the United States and Australia, finally settling in California. There, he met Anthony Kiedis at high school, and together they formed the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1983. Beyond his primary band, Flea has collaborated with a diverse array of artists, including Atoms for Peace, Antemasque, and appearances with Johnny Cash, Tom Waits, and Nirvana, among others.
