Iko Uwais, born in Jakarta in 1983, is an Indonesian action star whose martial arts prowess in films like Merantau, The Raid, and its sequel has earned him global acclaim. Practicing pencak silat since childhood under his grandfather's tutelage, he won a national championship in 2005.
