Janet Leigh, born Jeanette Helen Morrison in 1927, ascended from Stockton's working-class milieu to Hollywood stardom after a chance encounter with Norma Shearer at 18. Her career flourished with MGM, encompassing diverse genres from crime dramas like "Act of Violence" to literary adaptations such as "Little Women." Leigh's breakthrough came with Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho," where her portrayal of Marion Crane earned her a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination. She later transitioned to Broadway and collaborated with her daughter Jamie Lee Curtis in horror films.
