Jennifer Beals
Jennifer Beals, born in Chicago's South Side in 1963, is an American actress whose career took off with her breakout role in the 1983 film "Flashdance," earning her an NAACP Image Award and a Golden Globe nomination. A biracial woman with a complex cultural identity, Beals found her calling in the theater, notably in a high school production of "Fiddler on the Roof" and as a volunteer usher at the Steppenwolf Theatre.
