Studying painting in Paris early in his career, Huston meticulously sketched scenes before filming, framing his characters with precision. He eschewed extensive post-production editing, crafting his films on set. Known for adapting novels and tackling themes of heroism and doomed alliances, his work delved into religion, freedom, and colonialism, creating dramatic tension. A rebel and renaissance man, Huston directed both his father and daughter to Oscar victories, earning 15 nominations himself and winning twice.
