Kang Shin-il, born in 1960, is a South Korean actor who abandoned his university studies in electronic engineering to immerse himself in Seoul's theater district, Daehangno, where he founded the Testimony troupe. His debut onscreen in Chilsu and Mansu in 1985 marked the beginning of a career that seamlessly blended stage and screen, earning him acclaim in plays like Kimchigook Goes Crazy and Chronicles of Han. A fixture in Korean cinema and television, notably in Kang Woo-suk's Public Enemy franchise, Kang's career was interrupted by a 2007 liver cancer diagnosis but he returned to acting post-recovery, continuing his prolific contributions to both mediums.
