Lam Ching-Ying, born on December 27, 1952, and deceased on November 8, 1997, was a Hong Kong actor and martial artist celebrated for his portrayal of the solemn Taoist priest in the 1985 film "Mr. Vampire." A member of Madame Fan Fok-Fa's Peking Opera school and the Sammo Hung Stuntmen's Association, Lam was renowned for his physical grace and martial arts prowess, which he brought to roles that often required a blend of spiritual authority and physical combat. His career spanned the golden age of Hong Kong cinema, before his untimely death from liver cancer.
