M.C. Gainey

M.C. Gainey, towering at 6'2½", has carved out a career as a menacing presence in film and television, his chiseled features and menacing mustache making him a staple in roles ranging from Southern tough guys to criminals. After attending the University of Southern Mississippi and dabbling in the mortuary business, Gainey turned to acting, studying at the American Conservatory Theater. His debut came in Steve Martin’s “Pennies from Heaven” in 1981, but it was his versatility across over 50 films and TV shows, from “Con Air” to “Justified,” that solidified his status. His most notable recurring role was as Tom Friendly on “Lost,” appearing more frequently than some main cast members. Gainey’s distinctive screen presence and prolific output have made him an enduring figure in the industry.
