Masanobu Ando, born in 1975 in Kawasaki, Japan, is a versatile actor and director known for his range from mentally challenged characters to psychopathic killers, notably in "Battle Royale." His career took off with Takeshi Kitano's "Kids Return," earning him Japan's Best New Actor Award. Ando has navigated diverse roles in film and television, from a bank robber to a samurai, and even lent his face to Japanese ad campaigns for Pocky and Toyota. He made his directorial debut in 2003 with "Adagietto," a short film included in Hiroyuki Nakano's "Peacedelic" compilation.
