Michael O'Neill

Michael O'Neill, born in 1951, is an American actor with a career spanning three decades, typically portraying authoritative figures in law enforcement and the military. Notable for his role as Secret Service agent Ron Butterfield in "The West Wing," O'Neill also appeared in the early episodes of "24" and "The Unit." His versatility is evident in roles such as the distraught hostage-taker in "Grey's Anatomy," and his filmography includes "Seabiscuit," "Secondhand Lions," and "Traffic." Graduating from Auburn University in 1974, O'Neill honed his craft under Will Geer and Ellen Geer at Theatricum Botanicum before establishing himself in New York.
