Neil Dudgeon

Neil Dudgeon, born in 1961 in Doncaster, rose from school plays to a career spanning television stalwarts and literary adaptations. His roles include George the Chauffeur in "The Mrs Bradley Mysteries" and a World War II pilot in "Piece of Cake." Dudgeon's versatility shone through in "Inspector Morse," "A Touch of Frost," and "Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Silk Stocking." Since 2007, he has played Roman Pretty in "Roman's Empire" and Jim Riley in the enduring "Life of Riley." His transition to leading man came with his casting as Detective Chief Inspector Jones in "Midsomer Murders," succeeding John Nettles in 2011. Married to radio producer Mary Peate, Dudgeon balances a rich family life with a prolific acting career.
