Pedro Armendáriz

Pedro Armendáriz, born in Churubusco and educated in Texas and California, rose from Mexico City’s theater stages to become one of his country’s foremost film stars, starring in 42 Spanish-language films, including Luis Buñuel’s "Maria Candelaria" and Emilio Fernández’s "La Perla". His debut in Hollywood with "The Fugitive" in 1947 marked the beginning of an international career spanning over 80 films across continents. Roles in "Fort Apache", "Three Godfathers", and "We Were Strangers" solidified his status, but a diagnosis of terminal cancer during the filming of "From Russia With Love" cut his career short, leading to his suicide in 1963.
